Fresh seasonal vegetables for the community

As a small scale market garden, our focus at Meadhra Garden is growing high quality vegetables and herbs for our community. While not certified organic, we follow organic and regenerative agriculture practices to improve the health of the soil, the environment, and the community.

Our produce selection is available through a farm stand at 9210 Cresswell Rd, North Saanich.

About

Meadhra Garden is a market garden in North Saanich, BC.  Growing on approximately one third of an acre, we grow a variety of outdoor vegetables and herbs.

We operate under a regenerative agriculture philosophy with the goal of caring for the land, soil, and ecosystem, so that it continues to thrive in to the future.

Supporting local businesses is very important to us.  We are committed to source all of our seeds and supplies from within BC first and foremost and then within Canada.

Key practices:

-         We aim to improve soil health by not using any synthetic inputs, such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers, using a diversity of crops, and minimizing soil disturbance.

-         We aim to improve biodiversity and the health of the entire ecosystem by planting a variety of flowers and perennials to attract pollinators and other beneficial organisms

The Team

Meadhra Garden is farmed and operated by Jordan O’Mara with bookkeeping, admin, and social media support from his wife, Elizabeth Langtry.

The idea to start the garden came after Jordan was laid off from his job in 2023, providing the opportunity to choose his next adventure.  With a love for working outside and growing plants Jordan decided to start a business that combined his interests with supporting the local community. To get some farming experience, Jordan joined the team at Northstar Organics as a farm hand. Here he gained first hand experience with market garden operations. During this time, Jordan began breaking ground for Meadhra Garden.

Jordan has always been a picky eater and stuck to a small selection of vegetables. Growing his own vegetables has definitely broadened that selection. Especially with a promise to Elizabeth to try one of everything he grows.
